Martyrs or Traitors

L. sent this article to me, Martyrs or Traitors; A choice the West must be careful not to force on the people of the Middle East, published in the June 21st Economist print edition. It is worth reading.

The best line is the last:
... to offer the moderates money and no visible progress towards statehood is to treat them with contempt—and to invite Arabs everywhere to do the same.

I agree that the middle east is a very complex situation. If we try and handle it like we have our own history, it just won't work. I am hoping it all works out somehow.

Please encourage others to be aware of the influence this country (the U.S. A.) has on the rest of the world. I wish we didn't have so much power, but unfortunately so many decisions that are made in Washington D.C. have ripple effects across the globe...
